Residents of your community voted to have their electric and/or natural gas supply provided through governmental aggregation, and your community chose the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) as your aggregation supplier. You recently received a letter from NOPEC because you are eligible to receive our exclusive member pricing on the supply portion of your electric or natural gas bill.

Enrollment Options

As an eligible customer, you will automatically be enrolled into NOPEC’s Standard Program Price option. You do not need to take any further action to receive exclusive member pricing for your home or business.

However, if you decide not to participate, you must enter the opt-out code found on your NOPEC enrollment letter (see sample below) and enter the service address Zip Code for the account you wish to opt-out in the form below.

Additional Product Choices

NOPEC also provides the flexibility to choose other rate options so you can select the program that best fits your needs. You can choose from a Monthly Variable Price*, 12- and 24- month Fixed Term products, and even 100% Renewable Content Electric options.

For natural gas, the Monthly Variable Price is $0.02/Mcf or $0.002/Ccf less than your Utility’s Standard Choice Offer. For electric, the Monthly Variable Price is 6% off the utility’s monthly Price to Compare (PTC) for residents and 4% off the utility’s monthly PTC for small businesses.

Click here or call 855.667.3201 (855-NOPEC-01) for more information on these options.

*Enrollment in the Monthly Variable Price product is limited to 3.5% of NOPEC customers in the utility service territory and therefore subject to availability.

To opt out of NOPEC’s aggregation program, please enter your opt-out code found on the opt-out form attached to your NOPEC enrollment letter and enter the service address Zip Code for the account you wish to opt out.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) is a governmental energy aggregation that supplies electricity and natural gas to over 930,000 residential and small business customers in 250 member communities in 20 Ohio counties. NOPEC is an opt-out aggregation that uses bulk-buying techniques to supply competitively-priced energy to its customers. For more information about NOPEC, visit nopec.org.

When a community joins NOPEC, all eligible accounts within that community are automatically enrolled as a part of the aggregation program, unless a resident or business chooses to opt out by one of the methods indicated in their enrollment letter.

Only the supply of electricity and/or natural gas will be provided by NOPEC. Your local electric and natural gas utility companies will continue to deliver service, read meters, issue bills, and restore power after outages. Customers will still receive a single bill from their electric or natural gas utility.

If you opt-out, an enrollment will not be sent to your utility as long as your opt-out request is received by the deadline referenced in your letter.

No. If you opt out of NOPEC and choose another natural gas or electric supplier, check with your supplier to determine if there are any early termination fees that may be a part of your contract with them. If you decide to leave before the end date of your contract, you may be subject to those fees. Call the NOPEC Customer Care Center at 855.667.3201 (855-NOPEC01) for enrollment information.

As a NOPEC customer, you only pay for the natural gas or electric supply that you use. There are no additional fees.

Contact NOPEC’s Customer Care Center at 855.667.3201 (855-NOPEC-01) for more information on budget billing.

There are several reasons why some residents or small businesses may not have received an enrollment letter:
  1. Customers may be under contract with another supplier and are not eligible.
  2. Customers may have been inadvertently excluded from the database acquired from the utility.
  3. Customers may have been excluded due to having an ineligible rate code on their account.
  4. Customers may have previously signed notice from the utility that prohibits them from releasing a customer's information to independent suppliers.
  5. Customers also may be ineligible because they are on Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) or Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), or are not current on their payments to the utility.
Customers who did not receive a notice and want to join the program should call NOPEC's Customer Care Center at 855.667.3201 (855-NOPEC-01) for eligibility verification and enrollment information.
